Multispecies Shrimp Hatchery, Odayam
- The shrimp hatchery, Odayam is situated at Varkala. Started its operations during 2006. It is the most modern shrimp hatchery in Kerala
- Besides shrimp hatchery, other units in the Varkala Unit are aquarium, aquatic animal health lab, 3D theatre, children‘s park, training & awareness centre
- It is proposed to produce 24 million shrimp PL and expects a receipt of Rs.136.27 lakh during next season. Four technical staff, two ministerial staff and twenty labourers are engaged in proper functioning of various units
- Commercial production of shrimp seed
- Capacity – 20 million/annum
- PCR Tested disease free seed
- Water quality is ensured through filtration and disinfection at various stages
- Use of High Quality encapsulated feed
- Use of live algal feed and artemia
- Qualified and skilled staff
