- The shrimp hatchery, Odayam is situated at Varkkala, started its operations during 2006. It is the most modern shrimp hatchery in Kerala.
- Besides shrimp hatchery, there is facilities for aquarium, aquatic animal health lab, 3D theatre, children‘s park, training & awareness centre.
- It is proposed to produce 24 million shrimp PL and expected a receipt of Rs.120.90 lakh during next season. Four technical staff, two ministerial staff and twenty labourers are working.
